On Monday, January 30th, Kyle Parsons, Jake Liotta, and Jamie Lawrence headed to the Jim Woodruff Dam around 11:00 AM. Upon arrival, we did a quick scout of the area near the entrance to the dam’s facilities and decided to check out the area beyond the dam that which flourished with locals and tourists. We parked the car and each began getting to work. Kyle set up the DVX 200 and tripod while Jake took the Canon 5D to capture some b-roll and I refined the interview questions thought of by Kyle. Once we were ready to begin interviews, Jake asked multiple people (presumably locals) hanging around the parking lot if they would be interested in interviewing. Travis Scott, the man below in the green-yellow long sleeve shirt, was our first interview subject. Kyle handled both the DVX 200 and the Canon 5D. I asked the interview questions and Jake handled the microphone and audio. Following the interview, we broke apart and shot b-roll. Kyle took the Canon 5D and I took the DVX 200. Kyle and Jake were able to get a dam worker to agree to an interview as long as his face does not show on camera. They recorded that interview using external audio. We made our way down the river and met a woman that has grown up fishing on the water. Her name is Betty Smith, we spent the most time interviewing her. Jake addressed her and got the go ahead. Kyle ran camera, I conducted interview questions, and Jake ran audio. After getting some usable b-roll shots of Betty, we returned to the dam and Kyle used his personal drone to get aerial footage of the dam. I shot additional b-roll of nature during that time frame. On the way out of town, Jake and Kyle traded off filming the Florida/Georgia state line sign.
