Dr. Cotton and the Economics of A River

Chen Duo, Kyle Parsons, Lexie Pushkin, and Jake Liotta interviewed Dr. Chip Cotton for the Economics of the Gulf Fisheries and how the Apalachicola River Affects It.

Upon arriving at FSU’s Coastal and Marine Lab, we had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Chip Cotton to gain further insight into the science side of gulf fisheries. We used a Canon 5d mark iii and Canon 6d. Chen and Kyle operated the cameras, Lexie and Kyle provided interview questions, and Jake operated the mic. Dr. Cotton described to us his own work with his current research, the study of fish age, growth, and reproduction. Specifically, Dr. Cotton is looking at the age, growth, and reproduction biology of gulper sharks and dogfish sharks inhabiting the northeastern part of the Gulf. He tied his work and knowledge of the biology of the area into the economics of the gulf, helping us to add a science perspective to a project focusing on economics.
