Greek Communities - Update 2

Updated: Apr 2, 2019

Matt met with the Sports Club Executive Council, which showed interest in our project. The Council has been trying to get the Office of Sustainability to come to club sporting events for recycling projects, but have yet to see them out. They also think that having a sustainability resource guide, with an ambassador program, would be a great option for sports clubs to reach their community service requirements from the University.

Becky emailed all sororities and attended a Panhellenic Association meeting to invite members to the information session Paige and Chase hosted. Becky also co-hosted a session with the Office of Campus Sustainability with Chase and Paige.

Chase has begun work on creating the pamphlet that will be handing out. The pamphlet will contain information on climate change and how people can become more sustainable.

Chase and Paige both met with sorority members. The meeting was open for all sororities, but six girls showed up representing three sororities. The meeting was very productive. We came up with ideas to draw attention to being more sustainable (which would have an impact on climate change), such as creating stickers to put on reusable water bottles in an effort to increase the prevalence of them. The sorority members identified areas that they felt their sorority could improve in.

Paige has started a group chat with the sorority members who showed interest. She also plans on creating stickers to put on reusable water bottles in an effort to increase the prevalence of them and draw attention to sustainability (which would have an impact on climate change).
